Space Travel Technology: An Office Beyond the Stars

Ciro Liu's Futuristic Office Design Wins Silver A' Design Award

The design concept of this office is rooted in the idea of technology enabling intergalactic travel, making the vast universe a tangible reality. The office is not just a workspace, but a technological spacecraft, transporting its occupants through a wormhole to a different space and time. The white curved walls mimic the interior of a spaceship, while the protruding streamer plates symbolize the unpredictable asteroids scattered across the universe.

What sets this design apart is its ability to blend functionality with an immersive aesthetic experience. The custom perforated corrugated panels, light strips, and the floor with random patterns create the illusion of a wormhole. The office seating is arranged in a Y-shape, maintaining the flow of the space, with the "commander" situated at the center, giving orders to the crew. The silvery high-tech cones of various sizes not only define the space but also seem to pierce the ceiling, hinting at the endless possibilities beyond.

The office, spanning 82.5 square meters, was realized using a variety of materials and design methods to achieve a futuristic spaceship atmosphere. The colors white and silver are used to present a clean, progressive, and infinitely enlarged space. The flooring consists of a special, hand-laid seamless paving, reflecting the uncertainty of space and resembling the natural surfaces of the planets.

The project, which started in November 2019 in Hsinchu and finished in January 2020, faced several challenges. The designers had to maximize the efficiency of the limited space while meeting the needs of the client. Different materials and textures were used to create a technological and futuristic atmosphere that spreads throughout the entire area. Despite these challenges, the design team, including Chlo'e Kao and Ciro Liu, successfully brought the concept to life.

The "Space Travel Technology" office is a testament to Ciro Liu's innovative approach to design. It's not just an office, but a journey through time and space, offering infinite possibilities. This unique design has rightfully earned Liu the Silver A' Design Award, a recognition given to designs that showcase outstanding expertise and innovation.
